Up to now, LEDs had been featured in low-powered or less energy-sensitive devices, making the driver specifications fairly non-critical.

No existing driver met our stringent requirements for LEDWAY, so Ruud Lighting worked extensively with leading power supply manufacturers to create a product built to exacting standards. The result is an all-new, LED-optimized driver used in RuudLED fixtures.

This specially designed, universal power driver features 100 – 277 V auto sensing, 50/60 hz and High Power Factor, potted and protected in a wet-listed system. And it boasts up to 91% efficiency, compared to 75% in current HID ballasts.

Ruud’s driver also facilitates overheat-protection without full loss of light; the driver reduces current down to 150mA if case temperature exceeds 85˚C, dimming illumination but not extinguishing it. That means heightened safety, as lit areas do not abruptly plunge into darkness.
A 347-480V version will be available as a separate driver.
